Seneca District Kite Day - April 28, 2024

Kite Day: April 28

Drifting Away?

Have you ever wondered what it would be like just laying on a blanket spread out on a nice hillside while holding onto a kite? Relaxing, just letting time drift by. Oh yeah! We may have a bunch of excited scouts there flying their kites too! Cone one and all with your kite of choice to the Seneca District Kite Day on Sunday, April 28th from 10am-2pm at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg. All scouts should come in their Class B shirts. This is open to scouts of all ages, their families and friends.

Will Snoopy or the Red Baron show up? Who will have the longest tail? Who will fly the highest? We won't know unless we all show up! So pack a lunch/dinner and come enjoy an afternoon of kites drifting away!

Cub Scout Day Camp - June 24-28, 2024

The 2024 Seneca Cub Scout Day Camp will be held at the Izaak Walton League of America (IWLA)-Poolesville Chapter location in Poolesville, Maryland.  This camp offers fishing, archery, BB's, S.T.E.M. stations, Scout skills, and so much more!

Camp Hours: M-F 9 am to 3:30 pm

Cub Scout day camps are organized by the National Capital Area Council, Boy Scouts of America and conducted by volunteers from the local area. Day camps are for registered Cub Scouts entering the 1st-5th grades the following school year. Those entering the 1st grade must be accompanied by an 'adult partner' during their participation. Packs must provide a ratio of 1 adult to 5 youth.

Day camps are conducted by adult volunteer leadership who were trained and certified by BSA's National Camping School. Day camps are also supported by a number of adult and youth staff members. Scouts BSA may also support the day camp program by assisting the Cub Scouts throughout the camp.

A variety of different activities are offered to allow participants to experience outdoor programs for Cub Scouts; many of which are designed to implement the Cub Scout program theme. Adult volunteers make up the nucleus of the day camp staff by volunteering in positions to lead specific programs, support the general operation, or by managing a den of Cub Scouts throughout their time at camp.
